Most Viewed Video Ads: International Women’s Day Makes The Cut

April 01, 2020

Our Most Viewed Video Ads chart for March is here! While we were expecting to see a few more #IWD2020 spots make it into the list, there was only one from Apple! We can assume last month was overshadowed by crisis concerns, leaving marketers with that to truly focus on. Still, humor brought other brands to the top like Pure Leaf and Jimmy John’s, who made their first appearances respectively on the list.

Apple

Coming in first place this week is Apple’s latest Behind the Mac campaign highlighting women who have significantly contributed to society and are changing the world, set to Beyoncé’s ***Flawless.

Some of the more famous faces in this ad include, the activist, Malala Yousafzai, TV show host and organization consultant, Marie Kondo, and filmmaker, Greta Gerwig. The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day was #EachforEqual and brands did ‘show up’ with their support, albeit less in the form of video advertising and more with specific tactical demonstrations. Check out a few of the top brands’ approaches to #IWD2020 here. For an amazing visualization of female representation in the world to date, check out this UN digital library piece. You’re welcome.

Pure Leaf

Amy Poehler makes an appearance with her collaboration with Pure Leaf in Once Upon a No. “No” is a hard word for some to say – it could lead to confrontation, a missed opportunity, or it could hurt someone’s feelings. In this ad, Amy Poehler wonders what if we said “no” more often.

In a series of videos, Amy retells popular fairytales such as Rapunzel, and The Princess and the Pea, but with a funny twist – the iconic heroines say “no”. The spot celebrates women asserting their independence and not giving into others’ expectations.

Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin’ is offering its customers some value options with its Dunkin Go2s menu featuring low prices for the brand’s popular breakfast items.

The new spot advertising the promo focuses on a cast of colleagues who can’t seem to get DunkinGo2s off their mind while at work. In what feels like mini episodes of The Office, one colleague asks a question at a conference regarding the speaker’s breakfast sandwich and another mistakenly writes “Sausage Egg and Cheese Wrap” on his name tag.
