Most Viewed Video Ads: The 2019 Women’s World Cup

The U.S. defeated the Netherlands on Sunday to win its second consecutive Women’s World Cup title, the team’s fourth overall. It was a hard-fought battle between the U.S. and the Netherlands, and brands amped up their advertising campaigns to show support for the big game.
This week on the special edition MVVA chart, Nike takes the first and third spots, continuing their success by endorsing social issues. Other brands like Hulu, New Balance, and even financial companies like Wells Fargo and Visa take a spot in the top 10. Take a look at some of the winning ads pre-World Cup tournament below as well as a Nike tribute to the winners:
In first place, Nike encourages new athletes to “Dream Further” and includes international women’s soccer stars like the United States’ Crystal Dunn and Andressa Alves from Brazil. The ad centers around a 10-year-old girl who’s selected as a teammate for one of the players and is taken on an inspirational journey through soccer.
Topping the charts again is the “Hulu Has Live Sports” campaign. Hulu teamed up with the Women’s National Soccer Team as part of its ongoing #HuluSellsOut campaign. The ad depicts the teams new goal celebration: the “Hulu has live sports”. The humorous Hulu campaign aims to get sports lovers to cut the cord and switch to streaming options for the big games.
Qatar Airways also made the top 10 for the World Cup push, promotion thier newest destination – the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019. In the magical ad, a young girls pop-up book is transformed into a fairy tale world where soccer reigns and fans from all nations come together to cheer.
